The future of  fishing

depends on having people

who love the sport.

Wyoming Trout Unlimited is taking things a step beyond current conservation.  We believe that in order to facilitate trout conservation in the future it is important for us to reach out to the next generation of trout fishers today.  In recent years, there has been a sharp decline in the number of hunters and anglers.   If people don't know and enjoy our wildlife and fish resources, they won't speak up in support of them.  We are working through public outreach and youth education to expand awareness of trout conservation issues and spark an interest in fishing in the next generation of Wyoming citizens.

Public Outreach

Watch for TU at upcoming events like the Wyoming Heritage Expo, the Responsible Energy Symposium, and other conferences around the state.  Additionally, we have several publications, including a quarterly newsletter, that are available upon request.  Please contact our State Coordinator (nwilliams@tu.org) to get a copy of these publications.

Youth Education

We are currently developing programs with state-wide partners.  This we are piloting Wyoming's new Adopt-A-Trout project with a fourth grade classroom.  Students will get to participate in  a research study on the Gros Ventre River, learn about trout and trout habitat, and track 5 trout using telemetry equipment.
